After painting dots for leaves, plants, and flowers for years, and always wanting to paint them more realistically, this spring I came to the conclusion that the only way to do this was simply to put in the time. Sit there and paint. Just do the work.
The following photos are from my new folder of plants as they come up in the spring, before flowering, to highlight the many shades of green and shapes of leaves. It's mind-boggling.
You get the idea. These plants are just a few in my gardens...how is this all possible? Each one is so different from the other, yet they all appear at the same time of the year.
I cannot wait for the blooms...
